Scanning with a non-TWAIN-compliant scanner

Show expandable text

CS Professional Suite applications that have scanning capabilities require your scanner to be TWAIN-compliant, and that the TWAIN software must be installed at each workstation that will initiate scanning.

If you must use a scanner that does not meet the system requirements, you have other options to store scanned documents in FileCabinet CS. Purchasing a TWAIN-compliant scanner will be the most efficient option, and will allow you the most options within FileCabinet CS.

Alternative options

All methods listed below require you to scan the document to a file on your workstation prior to sending it to FileCabinet CS.

Creating and embedding PDF files

  1. Scan your documents per your scanner's instructions, and save the documents as .PDF files.
  2. Choose Object > Create from File to navigate to the PDF and embed it.

Note: Embedded files are not usable for Source Document Processing (OCR) or annotation in FileCabinet CS.

See Creating an embedded object for more information.

Creating and importing TIFF files

  1. Scan your documents per your scanner's instructions, and save the documents as multi-page TIFF files.
  2. Choose Image > Copy from File to navigate to the TIFF and import it.

Creating and printing files

  1. Scan your documents per your scanner's instructions, and save the documents as any file type, PDF, TIF, etc.
  2. Open the document and print using the FileCabinet CS Virtual Office print driver or FileCabinet CS print driver.

Note: Printed files are not usable for Source Document Processing (OCR) or importing multiple document to one drawer.

For local installations of FileCabinet CS, see Installing the FileCabinet CS print driver.

If on the Virtual Office CS or SaaS, see Installing the FileCabinet CS Virtual Office print driver for more information.
