Taking care of these items now will save you time throughout the year. Otherwise, you're more likely to run into slowness and errors during tax season.

  2. Confirm you are an Admin-level user.*
  3. Create antivirus exceptions. Do not temporarily disable your antivirus as a workaround.
  4. Create firewall exceptions. Do not temporarily disable your firewall as a workaround.

Installation instructions

Go to the right computer

  • Non-network: Sit at the computer where you want to install Fixed Assets CS.
  • Local Area Network (LAN) or server: Sit at one of the workstations on the network OR at the server.
  • Terminal Server: Sit at the terminal server console.

Decide which drive or network location to install to

  • Standalone installation: We recommend installing directly to the C: drive.
  • Local Area Network (LAN) or server: Do not install on the C: drive of the server. Instead, map a drive to the server and install there. You can map a drive to the C: drive if you like.
  • Terminal Server: Install to a local drive on the terminal server.

Download the installer

  1. Go to the workstation or server where you want to run the installation from.
  2. Go to the CS Professional Suite download page.
  3. Sign in to your account.
  4. Click the link to download Fixed Assets CS.
  5. Click Proceed to Download.
  6. Click Download Now.
  7. If you are given the option to Run or Save the download, choose Save.

If the file won't download, there's something interfering. This could be a browser setting, a Windows permissions issue, or an antivirus or firewall issue. You'll need to do some research or contact your IT professional, since these kinds of issues are outside the scope of Fixed Assets CS support.

Run the installer

  1. Find the downloaded file FixedAssetsdownload2021.exe. If you can't find it:
    • Check your download folder. You can click the Start menu and type "downloads". You can also go to My Computer or click the folder icon at the bottom of your screen, if you have it.
    • Look in C:\Users\[windows-profile-name]\Downloads and X:\Downloads (X is the mapped drive or network location for the server).
    • Download the file again from cs.tr.com/support/downloads. Make sure to save the file.
  2. Right-click FixedAssetsdownload2021.exe.
  3. Choose Run as Administrator.
  4. When the installation begins, wait for the files to extract. If the installer doesn't start, there's likely a permissions issue. Try using the Hidden Administrator account to run the installation. If Hidden Admin works, there's a bigger permissions issue that your IT professional needs to address.
  5. Click Next to begin the installation. You must read and accept the license agreement to proceed with the installation.
  6. You'll see the Fixed Assets CS Product Selection dialog with these options:
    • Installing to: This is where the program will install.
    • Licensing information: Enter your Firm ID and PIN. If you don't know your PIN, see Managing your license PIN
    • Install Fixed Assets CS: Mark this box.
    • Install UltraTax CS Product Group licenses: We recommend unmarking this box. We'll tell you how to download your licenses later.
    • Add desktop shortcut icons: We recommend marking this.
  7. Click Install. The rest of the installation process is automatic. If you run into any trouble, see Troubleshooting Fixed Assets CS installation issues.
  8. Click Finish.

Run the desktop or workstation setup

  • Non-network: The desktop setup for your workstation is already complete. If you don't see your desktop icon, you can run the setup to get one.
  • Local Area Network (LAN) or server: You need to run the desktop setup on each machine that needs access to the program.
  • Terminal Server: The server should already have a desktop icon once the full program installation is finished. If there is no icon, run the desktop setup on the server. If
