Take the following steps to set up a workstation before launching GoFileRoom. If there are problems after setup, you can use the same steps as a checklist to make sure all settings remain correct. Settings may have changed due to Microsoft Office or browser updates, or a browser reset.
If you still have setup problems after following these steps, see the GoFileRoom setup troubleshooting article.
Step 1: Set up Internet Options
- Select the search icon next to the Windows Start button.
- Type in Control Panel, then select the Control Panel App.
- Select Network and Internet, then select Internet Options.

- On the Temporary Internet Files tab, select Every time I visit the webpage, then OK.
- Select Delete.
- Tick Temporary Internet Files and website files and Cookies and website data.
- Clear Preserve Favorites website data, then select Delete.
- On the Security tab, select Trusted sites.
- Clear the Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone checkbox.
- In the Add this web site to the zone field, enter *.GoFileRoom.com, then select Add.
- Tick the Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone, then select Close.
- Select Custom level.
- Select Low from the Reset to drop-down list, then Reset.
- In the Settings list, enable Display mixed content, then select OK.
- On the Advanced tab, tick Use TLS 1.2.
- Select Apply, then OK.
Step 2: Set up Google Chrome

Step 3: View browser requirements
- Go to https://uk.gofileroom.com .
- Select View Browser Requirements.
- If the Common Controls Active X row has a value of No or a hyphen, select the link in that row to install the files. If that fails, you may need to manually register the files.
Note: Allow pop-up Windows and Trusted Site Security may still have a value of No or a hyphen even after the browser has been set up.
Step 4: Install the GoFileRoom Client Add-In
Install the GoFileRoom Client Add-In on each workstation.
Microsoft Office updates, internet browser updates, and a browser reset may cause settings to be removed.
