General tab

If you create or import a new plan, use this field to enter a unique identification code, up to 11 characters.

Use the drop-down list attached to this field to assign the plan to an existing preparer, or select <Default> if you do not want to specify a preparer for the plan.

Notes

  • The name you select in the Assigned to field can be inserted into client letters (for details, see Inserting plan data into a client letter). However, if you entered a name in the Name to appear on letter field in the Preparer Options dialog, that name will be inserted into client letters instead of the name you select in the Assigned to field.
  • To add a preparer, choose Tools > Setup Preparers when a plan is not open.

Enter the new plan's starting year in this field or use the arrows to select a year. If you import UltraTax/1040 or GoSystem Tax RS data into a new plan, this field displays the tax year of the data being imported.

Mark this checkbox to create a Family plan.

A Family plan enables you to analyze how the investment income of minor children will affect the parents' and the entire family's total tax liability.

Planner CS will create a plan with one column for the parents' information and one column each for the children's information, depending on the number specified in the Number of children field. Note that Family plans are limited to one year of information.

Note: When you import data from UltraTax/1040 or GoSystem Tax RS, the application imports the parents' data.

Mark this checkbox to display your plan in single base year format.

Note: This checkbox is not available if the plan includes fewer than two years or two alternatives, or if you mark the Family plan checkbox.

For more information, see Viewing plans in single base year format.
