Use the state tabs at the bottom of the Apportionment Information window to enter state-specific apportionment information. State tabs appear only if you have added states to the return and if additional apportionment information is required.

To enter state-specific apportionment information, click the appropriate state tab at the bottom of the Apportionment Information window.

Special information for processing Iowa returns

UltraTax CS provides predefined statement dialogs for factor components requiring detail information. UltraTax CS uses the information you enter in the statement dialogs in the Everywhere column on the form for that component. UltraTax CS ignores amounts from the Everywhere / (Override) column for that component.

General information group box

UltraTax CS uses information entered in this group box to complete form fields and answer questions that are not addressed in the Apportionment spreadsheet.

Use these fields to enter amounts for both in state and everywhere. UltraTax CS transfers the amounts you enter to Form IA 1120, Schedule E or Form IA 1120S, Part IV.

Alternate apportionment group box

If all of the corporation's income uses a single alternate method of apportionment, select one of the methods listed in the drop-down list attached to this field. UltraTax CS calculates the Business Activity Ratio based on the method chosen. When an alternative method is selected, UltraTax CS completes the Iowa Receipts column of the Business Activity Ratio by multiplying the Everywhere Receipts column by the calculated alternative apportionment ratio.

Enter the number of miles traveled in Iowa and the number of miles traveled everywhere. UltraTax CS uses this information to calculate the Iowa Business Activity Ratio. To calculate the Business Activity Ratio based on miles traveled, select code 1 from the Alternate method field.

Enter the number of Iowa traffic units and everywhere traffic units. UltraTax CS uses this information to calculate the Iowa Business Activity Ratio. To calculate the Business Activity Ratio based on traffic units, select code 2 from the Alternate method field.

Enter the population served in Iowa and the population served everywhere. UltraTax CS uses this information to calculate the Iowa Business Activity Ratio. To calculate the Business Activity Ratio based on the population served, select code 3 from the Alternate method field.

Enter the circulation factor in Iowa and the circulation factor everywhere. UltraTax CS uses this information to calculate the Iowa Business Activity Ratio. To calculate the Business Activity Ratio based on the circulation, select code 4 from the Alternate method field.

For the other approved percentage to be used on the Iowa Business Activity Ratio, select code 5 from the Alternate method field.
