New (tax) year, new help!

Fixed Assets and UltraTax CS 2023 help is now on Help and Support. We're still moving articles, but you can find most content for the 2023 tax year there. Continue using the Help & How-To Center for tax years 2022 and older.

Use the state tabs at the bottom of the Apportionment Information window to enter state-specific apportionment information. State tabs appear only if you have added states to the client and if additional apportionment information is required.

To enter state-specific apportionment information, click the appropriate state tab at the bottom of the Apportionment Information window.

Fields & buttons

Qualified Elective Two-Factor Method group box

The application uses information you enter in this group box to complete form fields and answer questions that are not addressed in the Apportionment Information spreadsheet.

Mark the checkbox to choose the two-factor method, eliminating the payroll factor from the calculation. Payroll information entered in the apportionment grid appears on the return, but the information is not included in the apportionment ratio. The default method is the three-factor method.

Enter the year in which the two-factor method was initially elected. This field is available only if you mark the Electing two-factor method checkbox.

Common Carrier group box

The application uses information you enter in this group box to complete form fields when electing the Common Carrier Method of apportionment.

Enter the miles both in Kansas and Everywhere for railroads / interstate motor carriers. The application ignores apportionment entries made elsewhere in the Apportionment Information spreadsheet when calculating the Kansas return.

Alternate Apportionment group box

Use the fields in this group box to use alternate apportionment for this state. Entries in these fields will take precedence over any entries in the Apportionment Information spreadsheet for this state.

Enter Kansas income calculated using the Alternative Accounting Method or the Separate Accounting Method. The application transfers entries in this field to Form K-120S, Page 1, line 19. You can specially allocate this amount on Screen KSAdj.

Include the separate schedule used to determine Kansas income from the Alternative Accounting Method or the Separate Accounting Method. This statement prints with the return.
