Use the state tabs at the bottom of the Apportionment Information window to enter state-specific apportionment information. State tabs appear only if you have added states to the client and if additional apportionment information is required.

To enter state-specific apportionment information, click the appropriate state tab at the bottom of the Apportionment Information window.

Special information for processing New Jersey returns

The application generally does not include the information entered in the shaded fields on that state's apportionment form nor is the corresponding amount in the Everywhere / (Override) column included in the everywhere amount. However, due to New Jersey's unique reporting requirements, the application includes amounts accumulated in the Everywhere / (Override) column for Origin Sales shipped to US Government and Origin Sales Shipped to Non-taxable Juris sales components in the total New Jersey sales amount on Schedule J, Part III, line 2(g).

Fields & buttons

General Information group box

The application uses information entered in this group box to complete form fields and answer questions that are not addressed in the Apportionment Information spreadsheet.

If the places of business are located only in New Jersey, mark this checkbox to use a 100 percent apportionment factor. The application calculates the business allocation percentage at 100 percent. The application ignores apportionment entries made in the Property, Payroll, and Sales tabs when calculating the NJ-NR-A.

Click this button to open the Schedule J Information dialog to enter data for questions on Schedule J.

Enter the locations where the partnership conducts business in the statement.

Alternate Apportionment group box

Use the fields in this group box to use alternate apportionment for this state. Entries in these fields take precedence over any entries in the Apportionment Information spreadsheet for this state.

Mark this checkbox if the state has granted a substitute method of allocation.

Enter New Jersey's income calculated using a substitute method. The application transfers the information you enter in this field to Form NJ1065, line 16b. The application ignores apportionment entries made elsewhere in the Apportionment Information spreadsheet when calculating the New Jersey return and when calculating the business allocation percentage. The application still calculates the corporation allocation factor using entries in the Apportionment Information spreadsheet. You can specially allocate this amount in Screen NJAlloc in the NJ Adjustments folder.

Enter the net guaranteed payments allocated to New Jersey using a substitute method of allocation. The application transfers entries in this field to Form NJ1065, line 22c. You can specially allocate this amount in Screen NJAlloc in the NJ Adjustments folder.

Enter the NJ 401(K) contribution allocated to New Jersey using a substitute method of allocation. The application transfers entries in this field to NJK-1, column b, line 3.
