Use the state tabs at the bottom of the Apportionment Information window to enter state-specific apportionment information. State tabs appear only if you have added states to the client and if additional apportionment information is required.

To enter state-specific apportionment information, click the appropriate state tab at the bottom of the Apportionment Information window.

Fields & buttons

General Information group box

UltraTax CS uses information you enter in this group box to complete form fields and answer questions that are not addressed in the Apportionment Information spreadsheet.

Enter the type of apportionment formula to apply, or select it from the drop-down list. If this field and the Alternate Apportionment field are blank, UltraTax CS automatically calculates the apportionment percentage using the multi-factor method formula. The options for the type of apportionment to apply are listed in the field view and in the following table.

Option Description
Multi-factor method UltraTax CS calculates the apportionment percentage using a multi-factor formula of property, payroll, and double-weighted sales.
Manufacturer's modified method UltraTax CS calculates the apportionment percentage using a multi-factor formula of property, payroll, and applicable triple-weighted or quadruple-weighted sales.
Retail company UltraTax CS calculates the apportionment percentage using a multi-factor formula of property, payroll, and triple-weighted or quadruple-weighted sales.

Use these fields to specify the beginning date of the election and to specify if the wage and employment certification was met. UltraTax CS transfers this information to Form 502A, Section A, line 6a and line 6b.

Alternate Apportionment group box

Use the fields in this group box to use alternate apportionment for this state. The information you enter in these fields takes precedence over any entries in the Apportionment Information spreadsheet for this state.

Enter 1 or 2 if the partnership qualifies for either exception. UltraTax CS marks the related checkbox on Schedule 502A. You can enter the number directly or select from the drop-down list.

If you do not enter a number in this field and the Apportionment Method field, UltraTax CS automatically calculates the apportionment percentage using the multi-factor method formula.

Use these fields to complete apportionment for partnerships that qualify as motor carriers. UltraTax CS transfers the amounts you enter to Schedule 502A, Part B.

Use these fields to complete apportionment for partnerships that qualify as financial companies. UltraTax CS transfers the amounts you enter to Schedule 502A, Part B.

Use these fields to complete apportionment for partnerships that qualify as construction companies. UltraTax CS transfers the amounts you enter to Schedule 502A, Part B.

Use these fields to complete apportionment for partnerships that qualify as railway companies. UltraTax CS transfers the amounts you enter to Schedule 502A, Part B.

Use these fields to complete apportionment for partnerships that qualify as Enterprise Data Center Operations. UltraTax CS transfers the amounts you enter to Schedule 502A, Part B.

Click this button to open the VEDP Certified Companies dialog to enter qualified Virginia localities amounts for Schedule 500AP.

Select the qualification year from the drop-down list. If this field is left blank, the application defaults to the corresponding year starting with 2018 being the first year.

Enter the certification number from Form VEDP.

Use these fields when multi-factor or single sales methods are filed.

Use these fields when using an alternate apportionment method.
