Use this tab to configure new client options (such as the default organizer delivery method), set other options related to organizer, and configure the client organizer presentation. Also, use this dialog to open the windows and dialogs in which you can modify or create new cover letters and email greetings, organizer questionnaires, custom paragraphs, and change the default print collations of the organizer package.

To open this tab, choose Setup > 1040 Individual, then click the Organizer tab.

Notes

  • Depending on your security configuration, you might be prompted to enter the master password before you can open the tab for a specific entity type.
  • Using the Electronic Organizer feature in the 1040 Client Organizer application, you can send electronic organizers to your clients via email or provide web organizers to your clients via a personalized, private web portal.
  • For clients whose data was converted from another tax application, the options set in the New Client Options group box are applied the first time you open the client in UltraTax CS.

Organizer Presentation options group box

This field displays the Client Organizer format that you selected on the Options dialog. (To open the options dialog and designate the desired Organizer presentation, click the Modify button adjacent to this field).

Click this button to open the Options dialog, which you can use to choose a client organizer format.

Other return options group box

Mark this checkbox to print all but the last four digits of SSNs, driver's license numbers, and state issued ID numbers in the Client Organizer forms as asterisks instead of numbers. If you select this option, the Organizer cover letter automatically includes an explanatory paragraph, along with instructions for reviewing the completed tax return for accuracy and for changing or updating these numbers.

Note: Social Security Numbers and driver's license and state issued ID numbers are only masked in the printed or previewed Organizer forms. To mask SSNs on all input screens and forms, choose Setup > Security, and mark the Require a password to display SSNs checkbox. View important information about this feature.

Mark this checkbox to print print all but the last four digits of Employer Identification numbers in the Client Organizer forms as asterisks instead of numbers.

Note: Employer Identification numbers are only masked in the printed or previewed Organizer forms.

Mark this checkbox to print all but the last four digits of bank account numbers in the Client Organizer forms as asterisks instead of numbers. If this option is selected, the Organizer cover letter automatically includes an explanatory paragraph, along with instructions for reviewing the completed tax return for accuracy and for changing or updating the bank account number(s).

Note: IRS security guidelines require annual verification of bank information used on the tax return by the taxpayer. If the organizer is being used as the method for verification, do not mark this option. An alternative method to using the Client Organizer for verification in UltraTax CS is the Bank Account Verification form, which can be printed with the Tax Return and returned via paper or eSignature.

Mark this checkbox to print all dates of birth in the Client Organizer forms as asterisks instead of numbers.

Note: Dates of birth are only masked in the printed or previewed Organizer forms.

Mark this checkbox to have UltraTax CS automatically proforma the Select the client web organizer questionnaire version for this client, Select the client organizer questionnaire version to print for this client (paper or email only) and Select the client organizer cover letter version to print for this client fields in Screen Letter if either of these fields were marked in the prior year return. To prevent the custom versions from being proforma'd, clear this field prior to proforma processing.

Note: This option applies to all 1040 clients.

Mark this checkbox to print the information entered in the Record of stock purchases statement dialog on Screen Info in the General folder. By default, information entered in this statement dialog does not print on the Organizer form. If you track your client's stock purchases, you may wish to report them in the Organizer so that clients can indicate which stocks were sold during the tax year and specifics of the sale. If the data is retrieved via the Web Organizer, you can automatically transfer the sold stock to the Sales of stocks, securities, and other investment property statement dialog in Organizer Screen D for inclusion into the tax return.

Mark this checkbox to avoid printing a blank Organizer Form Schedule D. If Schedule D was filed in the prior year, Organizer Form D automatically prints. If you marked the Print Screen Info Record of stock purchases on Organizer checkbox, clients that filed Schedule D in the prior year will get two Organizer Forms D: a form with the stock sales from Screen Info and a blank form.

Mark this checkbox before printing the Lite Client Organizer to always include the Itemized Deduction (Medical, Taxes, Interest, Charitable, Miscellaneous) page even if no amounts exist. UltraTax CS automatically includes the Itemized Deduction page in the body of the Lite Client Organizer package if amounts exist.

Mark the checkboxes for those forms you want to report in an Income Summary instead of separate organizer pages. You can use this option for both the Lite and Classic Client Organizer packages. If you use the Income Summary with the Lite Client Organizer package, mark any of the form checkboxes to include those forms in the Income Summary report.

Mark the Interest and/or Dividends checkboxes to report interest and/or dividends in an Interest/Dividend Summary Report instead of separate organizer pages. You can only use this option for the Classic Client Organizer package.

Enter the due date for clients to complete their organizers and return them to your office. UltraTax CS includes this date on the organizer cover letter if the Organizer due date custom paragraph is selected for the client.

Note: To enter a date on a client-by-client basis, or to override the date entered here for a client, enter a date in the Due date for tax payer to return completed client organizer field in Screen Contact, located in the General folder.

Use this drop-down list to specify how frequently UltraTax CS sends reminder notifications to your clients via email while an eSignature of an organizer document is pending. By default, this field is set to seven days.

New client options group box

Choose No default, Paper, Email (PDF), File (PDF), Web, Web - Print only, or None from the drop-down list to specify the delivery method. The selected method is displayed in the client's Organizer Delivery column in the Setup > Client Communications dialog.

Notes

  • This option applies to all 1040 clients subsequently added to UltraTax CS.
  • The delivery method specified in this field will be applied to all clients whose data was converted from another application. To assign a different delivery method to a batch of clients, choose Utilities > Reassign Clients.
  • To set this option on a client-by-client basis, or to override this option for a client, choose an option from the drop-down list in the client's Organizer Delivery column in the Setup > Client Communications dialog.
  • Clients with None selected as a method in the Organizer Delivery column are not displayed in the Select Clients to Print dialog when printing organizers.

Mark this checkbox to print a Client Organizer with blank forms for new clients whose data was converted from another tax application or who do not have proforma'd information. You may want to customize the contents of the blank Client Organizer before you print blank forms.

To customize the contents of the blank Client Organizer, choose Setup > 1040 Individual, click the Organizer tab, and then click the Organizer button. For any form you want to include in the blank Client Organizer, select the form and then mark the Include in blank Organizer checkbox.

  • This option applies to all 1040 clients subsequently added to the application.
  • Marking this option will print the blank client organizer for all clients whose data was converted from another application.
  • You should confirm that the forms you choose to include in the blank client organizer meet the criteria for the type of organizer package (classic or lite) you have chosen. For more information about the criteria used for printing, see Using Lite Client Organizer packages.
  • To set this option on a client-by-client basis, or to override for a client the option set here, mark or clear the Print blank client organizer field in Screen Contact in the General folder.

Documents group box

Click this button to open the Letters & Emails dialog, from which you can open the Document Editing window. In the Letters tab, you can add up to five new organizer cover letters or edit the cover letters provided with this application. In the Email tab, you can modify the default electronic Email Organizer, NetClient CS Organizer, and eSignature Delivery greetings.

Click this button to open the Organizer Questionnaire dialog from which you can open the Document Editing window. In this window, you can modify the questionnaire that comes with the 1040 Client Organizer or add new questionnaires for paper or email PDF organizers.

Click this button to open the Slipsheets dialog from which you can open the Document Editing window. In this window, you can edit the slipsheets provided with this application.

NetClient group box

Click this button to open the Web Questionnaire dialog, which you can use to add new web organizer questionnaires or modify the default questionnaire that is included with UltraTax/1040 Client Organizer.

Click this button to open the NetClient Organizer Options dialog, which you can use to configure settings specific to web organizers. These settings include disabling the Add Forms button in the Web Organizer interface and preventing clients from repeatedly re-submitting web organizers.

Collation group box

Click this button to open the Data Entry Display dialog, which you can use to configure the order and visibility of input screens and folders for UltraTax/1040 Client Organizer.

Click this button to open the Return Collation dialog in which you can change the default print collations for the Client Organizer package.

Note: You can override the Client Organizer collation on a client-by-client basis by choosing File > Print Organizers and then clicking the Options button.
