New (tax) year, new help!

Fixed Assets and UltraTax CS 2023 help is now on Help and Support. We're still moving articles, but you can find most content for the 2023 tax year there. Continue using the Help & How-To Center for tax years 2022 and older.

If you are using the data sharing feature, use this dialog to update a client's non-financial, financial, or Form 8615 data with newer information. You can choose the shared items that UltraTax CS will update, view the source of the new information, and see what values will be overwritten using the updated information.

If you have data sharing enabled, UltraTax CS will share data between clients with matching TINs. If you are licensed for Accounting CS or Creative Solutions Accounting (CSA) and have data sharing enabled in the applicable application, those applications will share W-2, 1099-R, 1099-MISC, and 1099-INT data with UltraTax CS. Also, if you are licensed for Practice CS and have data sharing enabled in that application, Practice CS will share non-financial data with UltraTax CS. The UltraTax CS Source Data Entry and Bar Code Scan utilities also use data sharing to update information in UltraTax CS returns.

Note: To share data with Accounting CS, Creative Solutions Accounting (CSA), Practice CS, and UltraTax CS Source Data Entry, specify the correct UltraTax CS data location (for example C:\WINCSI\UT14DATA) from within the appropriate integrated application. For more information, see the help in Source Data Entry, Creative Solutions Accounting, or Practice CS.

To open this dialog, click the Review or Add Unit buttons on the Data Sharing Pending Updates dialog.

Use the information at the top of this dialog to determine the source client of the shared data listed. If you have set up multiple valid addresses for current client's TIN in the Setup > Office Configuration > Data Sharing tab, you can use the drop-down list at the top of this dialog to specify the appropriate address that you want to associate with the open client. Once you've associated a specific address with the open client, future changes to address information in other clients containing the same TIN will not cause a data sharing prompt for that information.

This list describes the information being shared. The list includes the name of the field containing the shared data, the existing value in that field, and the pending update to that value.

Click this button to view more detail about the origin of the source data. This information includes the source application, client, name, fiscal year end, and taxpayer identification number.

Click this option to accept the selected changes to the open client's data. Click the Accept button to import the shared data into the client's return.

Click this option to retain the current data and discard the shared data updates. Once discarded, the shared data update will no longer trigger a prompt when you open this client.

Click this option to leave the pending changes unaccepted. The next time you open this client's data in UltraTax CS, the same pending changes will appear in the Data Sharing Pending Updates dialog. Click the Postpone button to confirm this decision.

Use this drop-down list to assign shared data updates from Forms 1099-MISC, 1099-S, or 1099-K in UltraTax CS Source Data Entry to Schedules C, E, F, or Form 4835 in the client's return.

Note: This field is only available when you address pending data updates from the 1099-MISC, 1099-S, or 1099-K forms in Source Data Entry.

After selecting Schedule C, E, F, or Form 4835 in the Reporting form drop-down list, use this drop-down list to assign the pending 1099-MISC, 1099-S, or 1099-K data to the appropriate unit of the selected form. You can also choose <New Unit> to create a new unit of the selected form in the client's return. If the client's return does not contain any units of the selected form, this field displays <New Unit> automatically.

Note: This field is only available when you address pending data updates from the 1099-MISC, 1099-S, or 1099-K forms in Source Data Entry.
