For payroll compliance (annually licensed)

Use the Transmitter Information dialog to enter or change information that will be used when creating internet or magnetic files.

Choose Actions > Process Internet/Magnetic Files, and then click the Transmitter Information button.

Fields & buttons

File Contact. Choose the person who should be contacted in case any problems with the file are encountered. The drop-down list is populated by the names of staff members for whom the Payroll form preparer checkbox is marked in the Setup > Firm Information > Staff screen.

Preparer Code. Choose one of the following from the drop-down list.

  • Accounting Firm
  • Other
  • Parent Company
  • Self-Prepared
  • Service Bureau

User ID. Enter the user ID that you received from the Social Security Administration and that you use to log into the Business Services Online (BSO) website to submit your W-2 files.

Transmitter Control Code. Enter the five-character Transmitter Control Code (TCC). The IRS assigned this code to your firm when they approved you for electronic filing via the Filing Information Returns Electronically (FIRE) program.

Create 1095-C Test File. Once you have entered your firm's Transmitter Control Code, click the Create 1095-C Test File button to generate a test file that you can transmit to the IRS. You are required to transmit a test 1095-C file before you can transmit live client files.

Note: The 1095-C test file will be created in the location specified in the Electronic/Internet/Magnetic field in the File Creation tab of the File Locations dialog.

Enter the state-specific transmitter information as necessary in the various state sections. You can find state-specific details by searching for your state in the State-specific payroll tax form information
