You can add documents that already exist on your workstation into Accounting CS Workpapers. Use the following procedure to add an existing file into the engagement binder.

  1. In the Engagement Binders Tree portlet, open the Add Workpaper Wizard and right-click an engagement binder briefcase, folder or workpaper, and choose Add Workpaper, or click the Add Workpaper button at the top of the Engagement Binders Tree portlet.
  2. In the Workpaper Type screen, select External from the Source drop-down list.
  3. Click the Browse button and navigate to the external location of the workpapers to add to the engagement binder.
  4. Mark the checkbox in the Select column for the workpapers that you want to add, and click Next.

Note: You can mark the Delete source file(s) checkbox to remove the external file from the source location after it has been added to the engagement binder.

  5. For each workpaper, select the appropriate workpaper properties in the Workpaper Properties screen of the wizard.
  6. Click Finish to insert the workpapers into the engagement binder.

  • You can also add an external document via the drag-and-drop method from Windows Explorer. In the Virtual Office CS or Software as a Service (SaaS) environments, you must open Windows Explorer via Microsoft Word or Excel to use the drag-and-drop method.
  • Click the Add Workpaper add workpaper button button to add external documents to the engagement binder. Workpapers are added to the top level of the engagement binder by default.
  • You can use the drag-and-drop method to move workpapers to another folder or location in the binder and reorder workpapers, as necessary.
  • You can add password protected documents to the engagement binder.
    • Each time you open a password protected document in the Preview portlet, the application prompts you to enter the password for that document.
    • You cannot send password protected PDFs via Source Document Processing.
  • You cannot add encrypted documents to the engagement binder.
