Assign workpapers to staff members in the New Engagement wizard (New Engagement - Workpaper Assignments).

The Staff IDs listed in the upper pane are those that have been selected on the Staff Assignment page of the wizard. The lower portion of the Workpaper Assignment tab displays the workpapers, documents, and staff assigned in a Tree View format with corresponding checkboxes. The following legend describes the icons used in the Tree view pane of New Engagement wizard.

Checkbox Legend
Not Assigned The staff member will have no access to this workpaper or folder.
Assigned The staff member will have read/write access to the workpaper or folder. Only one staff member at a time can be assigned full access.
Read only The staff member will have read access to the workpaper or folder.

Information will be displayed on the Workpaper Assignment tab only if the option Create from an existing engagement has been selected on the Start page of the New Engagement wizard.

Follow these steps to assign workpapers to staff in a new engagement.

  1. Highlight the Employee ID in the upper pane of Workpaper Assignment page of the New Engagement wizard.
  2. Mark the appropriate folders and/or documents in the Tree View pane on the Workpaper Assignment tab to assign to the selected staff member.
  3. When you have completed assigning workpapers to those staff member(s) listed in the upper pane of the Workpaper Assignment page, click the Next button to assign privileges to the same staff members. (See Assigning staff privileges in a new engagement.)

Notes

  • All folders and workpapers in the engagement will be marked Read-only by default when you open this page for the first time.
  • If a folder or workpaper is assigned to a staff member or is checked out, the workpaper or folder is marked Read-only or Not Assigned for all other staff members.
  • Selecting the type of assignment for the engagement or a folder applies the same assignment to all available folders and workpapers within the selected engagement or folder.
  • The information on this tab is automatically updated when the workpaper assignment is changed at the workpaper level.
  • Workpapers that are not assigned to a specific staff member are displayed, but cannot be selected or viewed in the Tree View window of their assigned engagement.
