The process for installing a state or city module to UltraTax CS is different depending on your licenses and whether you are using Virtual Office CS.

Unlimited license states

If you have an unlimited license for the state:

  1. Select File, then Client Properties in an existing client or File, then New Client.
  2. Click Add State(s).
  3. Mark the state and click OK. If you use Virtual Office CS or Software as a Service (SaaS) and the state isn't listed, activate the state license.
  4. If the state hasn't been installed yet, it will automatically download and update.

PRP states

If you have a PRP license for the state:

Virtual Office CS or Software as a Service firms

  1. Activate the state license.
  2. Select File, then Client Properties in an existing client or File, then New Client.
  3. Click Add State(s).
  4. Mark the state and click OK.
  5. If the state hasn't been installed yet, it will automatically download and update.

Before you can preview, print, or e-file the state return, download a PRP code.

All other firms

  1. Select Utilities, then CS Connect.
  2. Make sure the Retrieve and apply available updates switch is set to Yes
  3. Click the Initial State Release tab. 
  4. Mark the state and click Connect.
  5. Select File, then Client Properties in an existing client or File, then New Client.
  6. Click Add State(s).
  7. Mark the state and click OK.
  8. If the state hasn't been installed yet, it will automatically download and update.

Before you can preview, print, or e-file the state return, download a PRP code.
