Important reminder!

Licenses for Payroll CS, Trial Balance CS, and Write-Up CS (but not Engagement CS) permanently expired on March 1, 2017.

For details, see CSA license expiration 2017 – frequently asked questions.

Some processes documented in the Help & How-To Center are no longer applicable, due to the discontinuation of these CSA modules.

You can use the Tree View window in Engagement CS to view and organize all engagements, folders, and documents within each engagement according to your needs. To provide maximum flexibility, Engagement CS does not automatically sort your folders and workpapers, so you can easily change the sort order to meet your personal preferences. Use the View > Filter By Folder command or click the Filter filter button button on the toolbar to select and view only those engagements or folders in the Tree View that you currently want to work on.

Note: To display all the columns in the Tree View window, position the mouse pointer over the vertical border of the window. When the mouse pointer changes its appearance double cursor, click and drag the border to the left or right to adjust the window size.

Notes

  • You can drag and drop workpapers to a different engagements in the Tree View window of the engagement workspace. The action of dragging and dropping the workpaper to the new engagement location does not remove it from its original location, but only copies to the new location.
    • The drag-and-drop function in the Tree View window cannot be used to move workpapers across engagements when the Multi-staff function is enabled.
    • Signoff information and history is maintained when folders, workpapers, or documents are moved within the same engagement. However, signoff information and history is cleared when folders, workpapers, or documents are moved to a different engagement.
  • You can filter the folders in the Tree View window by clicking the Filter filter button button on the toolbar and selecting the folder(s) that you want to view exclusively in the Tree View window. See Filter by Folder for details.
  • You can easily identify the open engagement in the Tree View window by the open briefcase open briefcase icon in the Tree View window. Each engagement is labeled as either the (Master) or (Local).
  • You can right-click to open the context menu on the selected document or workpaper in the Tree View window to open the Workpaper Properties dialog, where you can edit the Name, Workpaper Reference, assignment, and other properties.
  • You will be prompted to clear all warnings when you attempt to wrap up the engagement. When this action is taken, all warnings are cleared from the Tree View window and workpapers are refreshed as needed.
