Differences between Virtual Office CS or SaaS and local installs of CS Professional Suite applications

Show expandable text
  • Users are recognized by their hash ID's an not their local windows profile name or local computer name.  For more information see, Finding your Virtual Office CS portal hash ID.
  • Full Adobe Acrobat Professional features are not available on Virtual Office CS or SaaS, only Adobe Reader functionality is available in FileCabinet CS and Outlook.
  • Credit Card swiping is not supported with HID swipers.
  • CS Connect licenses and updates are applied automatically overnight.  CS Connect functions to retrieve and apply updates are disabled in Virtual Office CS and SaaS applications.  For more information see, CS Connect: When are CS Professional Suite updates applied in Virtual Office CS or SaaS
  • By default users cannot see local network drives.  Citrix does not map your local network drives, but in many cases you can access a drive by manually entering in \\Client\M$\ (Where M represents your local network drive mapped as M:\).  See, Virtual Office CS or SaaS drive mappings and default locations for more information.
  • SQL applications do not have the ability to create backups in Virtual Office CS or SaaS.  The firm licensee can request a backup by contacting support.
  • Custom or third party fonts cannot be loaded to Virtual Office CS or SaaS.
  • The ability to right click has been disabled in Virtual Office CS and SaaS for security reasons.
  • Windows Explorer is not available on Virtual Office CS or SaaS.  See Using Microsoft Office as Windows Explorer on Virtual Office CS or SaaS for more information.
  • To demo a module in the Creative Solutions Accounting family go to Help > About and click the Trial licenses. You must own one CSA product. You cannot have ACS and a WP Trial or vice versa.
  • When archiving on Virtual Office CS or SaaS, you should archive to  the W: drive on Virtual Office CS or SaaS to take advantage of lower disk space costs.  For more information see Special steps for archiving FileCabinet CS data in Virtual Office CS or SaaS.  You must compact the Y: drive data after the archive to realize savings. All this is outlined in the FileCabinet CS section of the Minimizing disk space on Virtual Office CS or SaaS topic.  It is not supported to archive to any drive outside of Virtual Office CS or SaaS.
  • SQL is not available for FileCabinet CS on Virtual Office CS or SaaS.  All FileCabinet CS data is stored in flat file format on Virtual Office CS or SaaS.  Individual client backups that are created from FileCabinet CS are format neutral.  If you are using a SQL database format locally with FileCabinet CS, your client data will still be compatible to restore into Virtual Office CS or SaaS as long as you back up each client drawer instead of a full data location backup.  For more information see Backing up drawer data.
  • A Microsoft Exchange, PoP3 or Imap email account is required in Outlook on Virtual Office CS or SaaS in order to email out of hosted CS Professional suite applications. Outlook on Virtual Office CS or SaaS must be open to send the email immediately or it will be saved in the outbox and sent when Outlook is opened next.

  • Due to restricted browsing in the Virtual Office CS and SaaS environment, System Information and Web Browser portlets are not available.  RSS feed and Web Page are also unavailable within a Custom Portlet.
  • Due to the SQL format, backup and restore is not an option in the file menu.
  • Printers and USB devices are mapped when the first Citrix application starts.  Any changes to printers, their settings, or additions of new printers or USB devices will not be recognized during the current session.  All apps must close and the Citrix session must end,  then start a new session to adopt these changes/additions.
  • Only server 2008 R2 native print drivers or the Citrix universal print drivers are used for Printer mapping.  See, Print Drivers available on Virtual Office CS and Virtual Client Office (Including CBS Online) for more information.
  • Custom and third party print drivers cannot be loaded.
