Accounting

  • We have addressed an issue that, in certain circumstances, caused Accounting CS to close during chart of accounts spreadsheet imports when the spreadsheet contained a mapped subcode column.

Workpapers CS

  • We have addressed an issue that caused an error message to display during attempts to open a folder in the Workpapers Dashboard.

Reports

  • We have addressed an issue that affected payroll reports for Minnesota clients. Details
Accounting CS closed during attempts to print payroll reports that contained either the Current Total Rate or the Latest Total Rate unemployment rate variable.

Layouts

  • We have addressed an issue that caused Accounting CS to close during attempts to print checks using a check layout that contained the MICR Line variable, but did not contain the Check Number variable.

General - Payroll

  • We have addressed an issue that affected direct deposit allocations for vendor checks. Details
Accounting CS automatically recalculated direct deposit allocations for vendor checks during processing, rather than using the allocations that were in place when the checks were entered.
  • We have addressed an issue that prevented the File > Transfer Client Information dialog from properly transferring certain state and local tax items with the Employees data type. Details
This issue did not impact data entry, but it caused certain state and local tax items to be excluded on payroll checks and payroll reports.
  • Texas. Effective January 1, 2019, the Texas Workforce Commission made a number of changes to the calculation of its unemployment rates. We have therefore updated those rates in the application. Details
    • The Employment and training assessment rate has been increased to 0.10%.
    • The Deficit tax rate has been reduced to 0.00%.
    • The Replenishment tax rate has been reduced to 0.26%.
Accordingly, we have updated these rates in the Unemployment Rate dialog (accessed via the Payroll Taxes tab of the Setup > Clients screen) when new clients are added and when new unemployment rate records are added to existing clients.

Accounting CS Payroll, for live payroll processing

In addition to the changes made for general payroll features listed above for after-the-fact payroll processing, the following changes have been made for the live payroll processing features specific to Accounting CS Payroll.

Payroll compliance

  • We have updated the 94x Client PIN enrollment files (created in the Actions > Enroll > 94x Client PIN screen) to the latest version available from the tax agency.
  • Oregon
    • You can now file Form WR electronically via FSET. For more information, see Oregon payroll tax form information.
    • We have addressed an issue that, in certain circumstances, caused the application to report the incorrect statewide transit tax paid amount on line 4 of Form STT-A.
  • Pennsylvania. You can now enter either a 2-digit, 6-digit, or 8-digit (formatted as XXXXXX-XX) PSD code in the W2 PSD Code field of the Local dialog (accessed via the Payroll Taxes tab of the Setup > Clients screen).
  • Wisconsin. We have addressed an issue that prevented the application from creating the Form W-2 Copy 1 electronic file if an employee’s SSN included a leading zero.
  • We have addressed some 1099 form layout issues in the File > Layout Designer. Details
    • The incorrect variable was being used for the Recipient/Lender’s TIN on Form 1098 Copy B, C, and D.
    • In certain circumstances, Accounting CS closed during attempts to save changes made to the Copy A layouts of all 1099 forms, including Form 1096.

Note: If your firm has modified the predefined version of the 1099 layouts, the application will not overwrite your existing layouts with the updated versions. If this is the case, you will need to make the necessary changes to your customized layouts manually, or you will need to restore the latest predefined versions using the Layout Designer. To do the latter, expand the 1099 Forms tree and select the layout from the Layouts list pane in the Layout Designer and then choose File > Restore Default.

Accounting CS includes two interactive tools that provide valuable payroll tax information.
