Overview

Citrix Workspace is a third-party application that Virtual Office CS (VO) and Software as a Service (SaaS) users are required to install in order to access their applications.

Non-Virtual Office CS / SaaS firms might also use Citrix in a terminal services / remote desktop environment. If that's the case for you, see the Terminal server best practices for CS Professional Suite.

Requirements

To use Virtual Office CS / SaaS applications, we require:

  • Citrix Workspace to be installed on the C: drive.

Note: On a device running Windows 11, you'll need to install Citrix Workspace instead of Citrix Receiver.

  • Dedicated bandwidth of at least 128 Kbps for the first four users and 32 Kbps for each additional user. For optimal performance, consider dedicating at least 64 Kbps per user.
  • A hard-wired internet connection. Wireless connections like wifi and mobile hotspots are not supported because the signal can be unstable.
  • Full control in your Windows permissions to the Citrix program files. See the Permissions Guidelines for CS Professional Suite.
  • Antivirus exclusions for Citrix executable files. See the Antivirus Guidelines for CS Professional Suite.
  • Firewall exclusions for specific ports, executables, and IP ranges. See the Firewall Guidelines for CS Professional Suite.

Launching applications

To open your Virtual Office CS / SaaS applications:

  1. Log in to secure.netlinksolution.com.
  2. Click the icon for the CS Professional application you want to open.

Note: If you don't see this application you want, you might not have access to it. Ask your administrator to review Assigning applications and modules to NetStaff users.

  3. Citrix should automatically start connecting you to the application, and after a moment the application should open. If this is the first time using Citrix, and the application does not open automatically, click on the downloaded application.ica file.

If you have any issues opening your applications, skip to Tips and troubleshooting.

Updating

Do not update Citrix Workspace once it's installed. You should always use the version that's available for download in your NetStaff CS portal.

Note: Workspace versions 4.2 and earlier are not supported by Windows 10. If you upgrade a machine to Windows 10 with a prior version of the Citrix Workspace installed, this may corrupt the existing Workspace installation, causing problems accessing Virtual Office CS or Software as a Service applications from this machine.

Printing and scanning

Citrix automatically detects most printers and/or scanners that your computer is connected to. To make sure you get the full functionality of your printers, we recommend installing a Windows Server 2016 native print driver, regardless of the brand or version of printer you use. See Print drivers available on Virtual Office CS and Virtual Client Office.

To scan through Citrix, you need a Citrix-compatible scanner with a TWAIN or WIA driver installed. See Scanning Expectations / Recommendations for Virtual Office CS.
