After July 9, 2019, Microsoft will no longer support SQL Server 2008 R2 or earlier. Therefore, as of this v.2019.2.0 Accounting CS release, your firm must have SQL Server 2012 or higher installed on the servers that run Accounting CS to retrieve any application updates beyond this v.2019.2.0 release. For more information, see How to handle the end of SQL 2008 in Accounting CS.

Notes

  • This change does not affect firms using Accounting CS via Virtual Office or Software as a Service (SaaS).
  • We are providing a number of reminders and alerts within the application for firms who have not yet upgraded to SQL Server 2012 or higher. Details
    • An alert displays when Accounting CS is opened.
    • An alert message displays in red, linked text in the bottom-right corner of the application.
    • Attempts to access CS Connect will prompt an alert to display.

In January 2020, Microsoft will end support for Windows 7. Because Thomson Reuters cannot support customers using our applications on unsupported operating systems, starting on January 14, 2020, Accounting CS will no longer be supported on Windows 7. We strongly recommend that you upgrade your workstations to a supported operating system soon. For more information, see End of Support for Windows 7.

General

  • We now use black font color for the text labels of non-editable or disabled fields, rather than gray font color. (Accounting CS Ideas Community #2669). Details
    • Unavailable/uneditable fields previously used grayed out text.
      Gray unavailable text
    • The text is now black, for better legibility.
      Black unavailable text
  • Entering a date with an invalid year into any date field and then leaving that field now causes the application to revert the date field to its prior value. Details
Similar behavior previously applied only to dates with an invalid month or day entry, and now applies also to year entries that fall outside of the SQL supported year range.

This category includes many state tax items that don't fall under the specific state tax categories listed above. Some examples of these are Nevada MBT Tax, New Jersey FLI, New York ECET, New York FLI, Oregon Transit Tax and Statewide Transit Tax, Washington FLI, and Waterfront Payroll Tax.

Accounting CS Payroll, for live payroll processing

In addition to any changes made for general payroll features listed above for after-the-fact payroll processing, the following changes have been made for the live payroll processing features specific to Accounting CS Payroll.

  • We have made the following changes to the WorkforceHUB integration.
    • We have addressed an issue that, in certain circumstances, prevented employee direct deposit details from importing into Accounting CS from WorkforceHUB. Details
The imported changes to an employee’s direct deposit information appeared in the Employee Updates dialog in Accounting CS, but those changes were not applied to the employee record if the import included any other changes to that employee’s information.
    • We have addressed an issue that, in certain circumstances, prevented new hire employees from importing into Accounting CS from WorkforceHUB. Details
This issue occurred when the employee template contained linked pay items.
  • We have enhanced security for our integration with SwipeClock TimeWorks Plus. Details
As of this release, the SwipeClock TimeWorks Plus integration requires Accounting CS v. 2019.2.0 or higher.
